Herbal Drugs: The New Theme for Pharmaceutical Research

At present, there is a great activity all over the world as the scientists are investigating about micro-organisms, marine creature, plants and other life forms for biological activity.  People desire to learn more regarding the interactione between organisms which is attributed to the chemicals present in these species.  The effect of extract from flowering plants on the human psysiology and pathogens is the area where the activity now is in greatest.  This is so since it is very relevant to the new discovery of drugs to treat diseases of human and other mammals.

Generally, there are two reasons why scientists are interested in natural products.  First, is because the segment of the use medicinal plants like phtomedicines, food and beverage ingredients, traditional medicines and dietary supplements is rapidly growing.  Second is because the natural products continue remaining an essential source of the new discovery of drugs.  Now, it is increasingly accepted that screening products that are natural is a more effective chemical discovery strategy for new chemical entities since product libraries already have broader distribution of molecular properties like octanol-water partition coefficient, molecular mass and diversity of ring system when it is compared to combinational and synthetic counterpart.
