Both Men and Women suffer from incontinence. However, incontinence is more common in women than in men. The causes of incontinence can be gender specific. But whatever is the case, incontinence is a condition which can be cured or managed effectively with a physician’s help.
Incontinence in women is caused often by pregnancy and the stress involved with childbirth. When a woman is pregnant, fetus may place undo pressure on the woman’s bladder which results in stress incontinence. This may cause a leakage from any additional small stress that is placed on the woman’s bladder such as coughing, laughing or straining when she is trying to pick up objects.
Childbirth may also cause damage to the woman’s bladder or it may stretch out the muscles on the pelvic floor to the point where the control of urethra is becoming difficult if not impossible. The damage many times goes unnoticed and it does not occur for several years after giving birth.
